Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft Nature Reserve

The Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft Nature Reserve sprawls in the far south of Brandenburg.

Vast woodlands, meadows and pasture, acres of sandy soil and vestiges of active mining shape this cultural landscape on the Black Elster. This area is home to particular species of plants and animals. Even today, you can stroll in the footsteps of Cistercian monks, or walk along paths into the moor, through forests full of blueberries and to vast heather areas. The rich cultural and natural heritage makes this region particularly attractive for relaxation and ecotourism, and encouraging this constitutes one of the nature reserve’s most important tasks.
